(Click On Individual Photos To Enlarge) CH Belstar Song of End O'lane JH WC (Bravo) Co-owned with Cynthia Trotter HRCH UH CH Hardscrabble Feathr Fetchr MH WCX CGC x HRCH CH Anahorish Aisling MH WCX *** DOB 1-21-2004 - present
Bravo was bred by John Goudge out of his Allie and our Jamie. Sherie fell in love with Bravo as a puppy and we had actually brought him to California for the Trotters when we had judged out there several years ago. To say that a bond has been created between Sherie and Bravo is an understatement. He has brought tremendous joy to her and never ceases to amaze us with his zest for life and BUMPERS. Man, he is a retrieving fool and cannot resist anything thrown for him.
He is a beautiful dog who carries a lovely coat and has extremely nice movement all around. He finished easily and is starting a limited Specials career in the interim of training towards his Senior Hunter Title. Cynthia got two his JH passes on him and Sherie got the last two. Bravo jammed the Singles Competition Unsteady B at the 2006 Flat-coat National Specialty. At the 2007 Flat-coat Specialty in Minnesota, Sherie ran Bravo in Junior and got a standing ovation by both judges after running his land marks. He was one of a handful of dogs that took the marks clean and with such exuberance and desire.
Bravo loves running alongside the 4-wheeler for any new adventure and stands by the dog truck each morning and afternoon, begging for us to open up the drawer and bring out bumpers or dokkens. He lies on the floor by Sherie's recliner where he can have at least one eye looking at her at all times. He exemplifies what the true FCR temperament is all about and is a welcome addition to our household.
CH Bear Country What's It (Whatzit)
Co-owned with Eleanor Trew
HRCH UH CH Hardscrabble Feathr Fetchr MH WCX CGC x CH Twin Oak’s Spring Fever MH WCX***DOB 5-26-2001 – present
His living here with us is the result of an emotional plea to Eleanor to let us buy him back from her. In April of 2004, we lost Whatzit’s litter brother, Diesel, to a horrible twist of fate early in his prime (see Gone but Not Forgotten). Whatzit was Eleanor’s pick out of that litter (she had co-owned Fever with us at one time) and her husband, Gary, used to call her and ask how “WhoSiWhatzit” was doing (Gary being a LAB man and not that familiar with Flat Coats). So, needless to say, we got Whatz to help ease our pain from Diesel’s loss and we continue to co-own him with Eleanor. Whatzit finished his Championship easily as he has fantastic movement and stops on a dime and freebaits like a statue. He has, however, been Clint’s challenge child in training as he definitely has a mind of his own and is somewhat of an Alpha dog. But, he is also the sweetest goofball, and has made his mark in our household by singing along to any type of television music that includes trumpets or horns. Don’t ask……….it is truly hysterical. Clint also claims that he speaks in human terms at times by saying “I love my momma”, but this is debatable.
CH Bear Country Teddy End O'Lane CD SH RE
CGC (Teddy) Co-owned with Matt & Katie Griffiths
Clint and I are very proud of Matt & Katie Griffiths, and their accomplishments with Teddy. We expect big things from them. As written on Katie and Matt Griffiths’ website: http://www.stoneridgekennels.com/flatcoat.html Stoneridge Kennels now owns a Flat-Coated Retriever!!! CH Bear Country Teddy End'OLane CD SH RE CGC HRCH UH CH Hardscrabble Feathr Fetchr MH WCX CGC x HRCH CH Anahorish Aisling CDX MH WCX*** DOB 1-21-2004 - present Bred by: John A. Goudge
Teddy is a wonderful retriever and loves the water. He is also our house dog and gets along with all of my dogs. His favorite spot in the house is in our lap on the couch. Teddy is not walking on water in the photo below right. He is retrieving on ice!
Bear Country Wild Wing Chaser (Chase) < Chase Pedigree > Adobe Acrobat Reader Required CH Bear Country What’s It x Paradise Bear Cntry Ms Savvy DOB 8-3-2004 - present
Chase (also fondly know as “up ups”) is a liver mush . From day one, he bonded to our family in ways that we never would have imagined. Our son, Billy, takes Chase up on the couch and has him lie completely still on his back to take a nap. This is unheard of in our world as most of our dogs are in 5th gear most of the time and hardly stand still for an instant. Chase has the most imploring face, the kind that makes you want to just ooh and ahh over its cuteness, but deep down you know that a devil lurks inside. While in his crate in our living room, he positions himself so that he can always be in your sight and has his nose pressed in between the bars with a paw on each side. The alternative to that position is lying on his back with his legs up in the air (a trait of dear old granddad, Jamie). Chase has already burned his way into our hearts. He gets along with every dog in the house and stays at your side when you go for walks (actually, he herds you), usually carrying a stick or bumper in his mouth the whole time. He has a natural retrieving desire and is compelled to please. We hope to tap into his abilities and push him as far as his show and field careers will allow. So far, Chase has one major win and a few minor points.
Bear Country Cupid's Arrow (Adam) HRCH CH Gamekeepers Black Hawk MH WCX HOF x CH Bear C'ntry Hob-B Reminiscent SH WCXDOB 2-10-2006 – present
Having two nice males to choose from in the litter was extremely fortunate, and we relied again on Maria to help us make a tough decision on which one to keep. Adam was the chosen one. He was such a fun loving puppy and one of the first to do, well, just about everything. His exposure to tunneling through the PVC elbows and over and around toys and obstacles we put in the whelping box is probably responsible for him now bursting through any type of cover or terrain without hesitation. He is a sweet boy that is going through the typical adolescent male flat coat “growth spurts”. His head seems to change daily. One day his body looks so put together and the next it looks like stilts on wheels. But, he is adapting to being one of Sherie’s “chosen ones”. That is, part of her “boys” (Chase, Whatzit and Jamie being the other members) who are invited for the daily walk of the property through hill and dale, muck and mire. Adam, along with “monkey” and “frog” (his two favorite toys that sing and make noises), and his other assorted toys, is enjoying life to the fullest. And, true to form, Adam can be seen lying in the upside down position of all Jamie kids and grandkids. For more information about Adam's parents, Hawk & Remie, check out Mitch & Maria White's website, www.gamekprs.com. You can also read more about Hawk by clicking here. Pictured below are photos of Adam's first solo catch!!! Our son, Billy, had let the dogs out in the back yard that evening to air one last time before retiring for the night. As the dogs were returning, Billy noticed that Adam had caught, and was carrying a wild bunny rabbit! We know that in other countries, flat-coats are used to retrieve rabbits during the hunt, but we never thought we would ever see that first hand.
Sidekick's Advantage Max Four (Camo) Co-owned with Kathy Schneider Dutch & AM CH Flat Castle's Olympic Torch x CH Bertschire Spilled The Beans SH WCX AX AXJ DOB 5-30-2007 - present Camo is quite a unique addition to the Bear Country clan in that he is out of a dog that was in the United States from Finland for an extended say. DUTCH and AMERICAN CH FLAT-CASTLE'S OLYMPIC TORCH (Thor) has been campaigned in the US and most recently won WD at the Minnesota National Specialty in June of 2007 and is already a multiple group placer, including several Sporting Group 1s.
Camo was graciously given to us by Kathy and Tom Schneider on a co-ownership with them. Camo's dam, Gabby, goes back to our Windy and Jamie bred to Tux. Gabby had 7 boys in her litter and we are honored that the Schneider's entrusted Camo into our care.
Camo has taken to the farm quite nicely and accompanies Sherie out to the barn each morning to feed horses. He enjoys drinking out of the horses' water bowls and often goes nose to nose with them. He is learning about life in the country and has been exposed to all the critters including ducks, geese, cows, and most importantly, CATS. He thinks that the cats (both indoor and outdoor) are his personal play toys.
Camo is learning that retrieving is fun, especially when water is involved. He is very well socialized in the house and enjoys hanging out on the bed playing with his toys while we are on the computer. Our hands will be happy once he stops teething :-)
Gamekeeper's Stock Option (Broker) HR Amani's Top Gun SH WCX x CH Bear C'ntry Hob-B Reminiscent SH WCXDOB 4-06-2008 – present Broker is the product of two very high rolling flat-coats. Both Ace and Remie have tremendous desire, speed, and talent in the field. Broker is showing great promise as he is growing up, taking a great liking to both retrieving and swimming. We are certain that Maria and Mitch White were instrumental in the early socialization of this litter, which will undoubtedly be the foundation for their success to come. Maria was very excited about Broker as a puppy due to his outstanding front assembly and overall balance. We could not agree more, as he is certainly turning out very nicely. He has an absolutely wonderful temperament and is very outgoing. There are big things expected from this one!
