Chase

Bear Country Wild Wing Chaser  Owned by Toby & Danielle Hardee

CH Bear Country What's It x Paradise Bear Cntry Ms Savvy

DOB  8-3-2004 - present

Chase’s history is both a joy and a thorn in our sides.  Unfortunately, as time goes on in dogs, there will come a time where an “oops” litter is inevitable.  Chase is a product of such a breeding and is one of two puppies that we held onto (along with his sister, Echo).  While we are not proud of the fact that this happened, we are happy that we found great hand picked homes for all of the puppies and that they are fulfilling their owner’s expectations.

Chase (also fondly know as “up ups”) is a liver mush .  From day one, he bonded to our family in ways that we never would have imagined.  Our son, Billy, takes Chase up on the couch and has him lie completely still on his back to take a nap.  This is unheard of in our world as most of our dogs are in 5th gear most of the time and hardly stand still for an instant.  Chase has the most imploring face, the kind that makes you want to just ooh and ahh over its cuteness, but deep down you know that a devil lurks inside.  While in his crate in our living room, he positions himself so that he can always be in your sight and has his nose pressed in between the bars with a paw on each side.  The alternative to that position is lying on his back with his legs up in the air (a trait of dear old granddad, Jamie).

Chase has already burned his way into our hearts.  He gets along with every dog in the house and stays at your side when you go for walks (actually, he herds you), usually carrying a stick or bumper in his mouth the whole time.  He has a natural retrieving desire and is compelled to please.  We hope to tap into his abilities and push him as far as his show and field careers will allow.  So far, Chase has one major win and a few minor points.

Sherie and Clint

Chase assumed ownership of his new parents, Toby & Danielle, and their kids, Andrew and Becca, in September 2008.

Chase is fitting in well.  The first couple of days he favored me, but since I have been at work (and Danielle has been home with him most of the day) he favors her as you predicted.  And yes, he is always under someone’s feet.  I can’t imagine living with 8 or 9 dogs as they are all under your feet.

So far we have been able to keep him busy with a daily run, playing with the kids, and throwing the bumper; he is always ready to play.

He seems to be getting settled into our house and over the last few days he has stopped trying to jump up on the beds and on our sofa.  So far, so good.  He is such a loving dog.  My son thinks we should rename him “Licky” because Chase is always licking someone.
